Mountain goats are an introduced species on Kodiak Island. A relatively mild climate and excellent habitat have allowed the goats to proliferate and spread steadily across the island's high country. Awe inspiring climbers, they spend their lives near cliffs and on steep rocky terrain. While not particularly fast runners, they rely on their incredible strength and inexhaustible climbing ability to escape from danger.
